Getting Started with Nightfox Nova

1. Charge Before First Use

Nova charges via USB-C, just like a phone or tablet.

Plug the supplied USB-C cable into a USB power source.

Connect the angled end to Nova.

Full charge time is approximately 5 hours.

Tip: Even if Nova is not used regularly, charge it at least once every three months to maintain battery health.

2. Check the Memory Card

Nova comes with a pre-installed 64GB memory card.

If you need to remove or reseat the card:

  • Power the device off.
  • Open the USB cover.
  • Push the memory card in gently to release it.
  • Reinsert with the gold pins facing down, then push until it clicks into place.

Tip: If “Memory Full” appears on the screen, transfer your files to a computer or external device and delete them from the card before continuing.

3. Power On

Long press the Power button to turn Nova on.

Nova automatically starts in Video Mode.

Look through the viewfinder and adjust focus using the lens focus wheel. Refocus at each use for the sharpest image.

4. Day vs Night Setup

For Daytime Use

Infrared (IR) should be turned off in daylight.

  • Press IR↓ until IR:OFF is displayed.
  • The image will appear in colour when IR is off.

For Night Use

  • Press IR↑ to increase IR strength from Auto to levels 0–5.
  • Use higher IR levels in darker conditions.
  • IR:0 or Auto may be sufficient where there is some ambient light.

5. Adjust Quick Settings

Press OK in Video Mode to access Quick Settings.

You can adjust:

  • IR level – controls infrared brightness
  • Sensitivity – similar to ISO exposure (increase in darker environments)
  • Backlight – adjusts LCD screen brightness

For fast-moving wildlife, consider using 60FPS in Settings for smoother motion.
